- About | Instinct Comics
Learn more about Jake Knight, founder of Instinct Comics and a visual communication student passionate about storytelling through comics, animation, and design. Discover the creative journey behind the brand and the vision shaping its future. About Me! Hi, I’m Jake Knight—a visual storyteller, designer, and founder of Instinct Comics, currently based in Newcastle, Australia. I’m studying a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design at The University of Newcastle, majoring in Graphic Design & Illustration. My passion lies in telling powerful stories through comics, character design, animation, and all things visual communication. This website is where I share my creative journey—featuring original comic concepts, portfolio work, and university projects as I build the foundation for my future multimedia studio. Whether you're here to explore my work, collaborate, or just say hi—thanks for stopping by. Instinct Comics - Origin Instinct Comics started as a passion project—born from countless hours sketching characters and crafting dark fantasy worlds. Inspired by everything I love—anime, comics, superheroes, and animation—it grew from imagination into ambition. Ever since I was a kid (I know, cliché... but it’s true), I’ve been captivated by visual storytelling. The way a single frame, panel, or scene could stir deep emotion and spark imagination fascinated me. That wonder evolved into a mission: to create my own original stories—and one day, publish them. I still dream about working with a major comic or manga publisher, but whilst studying and building my portfolio, Why should I wait to create and self publish my own content? That mindset is what gave life to Instinct Comics, something I want to continue even if I work with another company in the future, as an indie creative studio. Now, as a full-time Visual Communication Design student, I’m building the skills to bring that vision to life. From scripting and storyboarding to illustration and character design, I’m exploring every step of the creative pipeline—wearing all the hats, so I can understand the full process. This site is a reflection of that journey. It’s part portfolio, part studio-in-progress, and 100% a labour of love—a hybrid space where my academic work, original creations, and future business all come together. Contact I’m always open to new creative opportunities, collaborations, and professional connections. Let’s make something great together. Business Email: jake.knight@instinctcomics.com
